Prepare the pie crust in a 9-inch pie plate, trimming and crimping the edges as desired.
Refrigerate the shaped crust for at least 30 minutes so the pastry becomes firm
Preheat the oven to 375°F
Prick the bottom of the chilled crust lightly with a fork
Cover the crust with parchment paper and fill it with pie weights, dried beans, or uncooked rice
Place the pie plate on a baking sheet and bake for 15 to 20 minutes
Carefully remove the parchment and pie weights
For a partially baked crust, return it to the oven for another 5 to 10 minutes, until the bottom looks dry and lightly golden
For a fully baked crust, continue baking for another 10 to 15 minutes, until the bottom and edges are golden brown
Cool the crust completely on a wire rack before adding the filling.
