Anyone who’s ever been apple picking knows what it’s like to have an overflow of apples. Picking them off the trees is fun and you feel one with nature. Fresh apples! That I picked myself! And the basket gets more and more full…..but out in that orchard, the basket looks small, and maybe we need just a few more……
I love bananas. They’re packed with flavor and nutrients, and they’re a perfect snack, especially if you’re on the go. So inevitably, I buy a big bunch when I’m at the market.
In the spirit of the crisp autumn day I set out this morning to make yet another dish using the myriad of apples still in the fridge from apple picking. I had come across a recipe a few days ago in a magazine - I’m sure you know the type I’m talking about - it wasn’t a food magazine, the recipes were all in the very back, and I had my doubts, but the picture looked so good…….
When I grew up, chocolate pudding was one of the staple sweets in my house. Always milk chocolate and always out of a little brown and white “My T Fine” box. Sometimes with nuts, sometimes without (the nuts always came in the little box too). My mother usually made the pudding when I came home from school, and licking the pot and the spoon was an extra treat.
Fast forward to now.
Everyone has a food memory. You know what I’m talking about - the smell or taste of something that transports you to another place in another time.
