A Healthy Alternative to Rice and Pasta.
Quinoa is a grain that’s full of protein and makes a healthy alternative to rice and pasta. But if not cooked correctly, it can be soft and mushy or even hard and crunchy.
If you follow these easy steps, you’ll find it really is super easy and quick. Cooked quinoa will keep in the fridge for a week, which makes it a perfect make ahead dish to add to veggies, salad or even have for breakfast (make sure to watch our Beat Breakfast Boredom Nibbles & Bytes video!).
1/2 cup quinoa
1 cup water
Pour the quinoa into a small saucepan and toast on medium heat for 2 minutes. Add the water, cover, and simmer until the water is absorbed, about 10 minutes. Just don’t stir the pot while the quinoa is cooking. When the water is all absorbed, fluff the quinoa with a fork. Couldn’t be easier!
